Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions we get asked relating our group sessions... we hope the answers here help!

How easy is it to join a video call session with you?

Our aim is to make it as straight forward as possible for people to join in. It's as easy as clicking a link. We always send this along with instructions before the session that explain how to join onto the meeting to help make it as accessible as possible. If you do have any trouble still don't worry! We will be on hand and able to phone you if you run into any technical difficulties.

How can I contact you?

You can contact us in lots of ways! You can contact us by filling the form at the bottom of the page, by calling us on 07511 209 613 or alternatively you can email as at virtualcareandcompanionship@outlook.com

How do I book your services?

You'll be thrilled to know video calls are fairly simple with a couple of sessions to practice. When you are having your first session if you're having any technical difficulties or need a little guidance to access your call our friendly team will give you a phone call and talk you through how to get yourself logged in, and signed on. We really encourage having a friend or family member with you for your first call, particularly if you struggle with communication difficulties. This helps us to help you in the most person-centred way possible.

Do I need to be on camera?

Not at all! We want everyone we support to feel comfortable. We can offer telephone calls if you prefer not to be on camera, or video calls if you'd like face to face conversations. Our support is completely led by you.

What happens if we can't make an appointment I've booked onto?

We always like to be notified where possible if you can't attend a phone call so that we can rearrange. Because the service is charged as a monthly cost to make it as financially accessible as possible we don't charge an additional fee if you do happen to miss one or two. If it does happen regularly we'll notify your preferred person, just so that we can ensure you're safe and well in case there is an underlying issue that has prevented you from attending your call, such as becoming unwell and needing help to get in touch with healthcare services.

Do I need to have a carer accompany me for my support sessions?

This is completely up to you. We welcome carers if you would like someone with you for support during the session but this isn't mandatory. We never discourage having a carer, relative or friend with you if you prefer this as we're collaboratively focus and value the importance of being open and communicative with those who work with you to ensure we are always providing support in a fulfilling and person centred way, but you don't need to have anyone with you for the appointments either.

How long can I have the support for?

As long or as little as you need! We can continue your support for as long as needed, and can also make calls to you in your place of care if you would like someone to talk to between visits from family and friends. You can also take a break from the service if you decide you no longer need it and come back to us later on if you come to feel the support would benefit you again later down the line.

I think this service would be great for my loved one, can I refer them?

Yes! We accept referral's and self referral's. You can contact us using the contact details above in the top banner, please let us know who you are referring and the best way to contact them, we'll then take it from there and discuss the support with them in more depth.

I'm a social worker/professional, can I refer someone I'm supporting?

Yes, we accept referrals on a person's behalf or from them directly, and we can accept new people through funding too if they are eligible for help towards care and social care services.

Do you offer in-person support for help at home and in the community?

We're one of the companies of the Carer24 group which has a number of other fantastic support services that help in other ways if you need something in addition to, or instead of online and telephone support services. If you're looking for in-person support, Farrow Friends offers home-help, befriending and community support. Nourished also offer meal prep and companionship if you're in need of support with home-cooked meals, cooking and companionship at mealtimes.
